Lifestyle: A day in Curepipe

Living in the centre of Mauritius is advantageous. Protective freshness, refreshing atmosphere, proximity to all regions, growing development, spectacular landscapes... Are the cities of Floréal or Curepipe the new places to be? Let’s find out…

Curepipe, a city full of surprises

Located in the Plaines Wilhems district, Curepipe is the second largest city of the island. Its location is ideal since it is encircled by all the surrounding villages and coasts. The town is particularly famous for its extinct volcano, the Trou aux Cerfs, from which you can admire a panoramic view of the region. Curepipe also welcomed the establishment of many companies and became a sure economic centre. Shops, splendid colonial houses, restaurants, Garden Village shopping center, Curepipe enjoys all the conveniences of a city while enjoying a slightly secluded position for a relaxed and quiet lifestyle.

S'Mall & Chic, a beautiful shopping complex to discover

While walking in Curepipe, slow down your pace when you pass the corner streets of Emile Sauzier and Virgil Naz, here are hidden several shops of unsuspected beauty.  Start your visit at the incredible L'Antiquaire. Furniture, crockery, lamps, clocks, decoration, opaline vases, be charmed by the selection of exceptional pieces each telling their history through a diversity of horizons and religions perfectly symbolizing the cultural wealth of Mauritius. The charm of the place also emanates from the tenderness of its smiling saleswomen.

Pursue your exploration in the heart of The Market Restaurant & Deli restaurant where you can taste refined dishes presented with taste, while sitting at the back of your comfortable sofa. The place is decorated with style and mixes natural materials and contemporary aspect. As you look up, you will find majestic chandeliers suspended from high ceilings and surrounded by bird cages. Here are samples of the delicious dishes that you can taste on site: Beet carpaccio with parma ham and Auvergne blue sauce, Burger wagyu with caramelized onions, or Salted butter caramel cheesecake.

Upstairs, charming jewelry and clothing shops welcome you in full colours, presenting brands such as Manoa, Eder, Sundae and Tina Rose. Walking through the shops, discover the beauty center Body Beautique offering hairstyling (straightening, colouring, brushings...), manicure, make-up or massages for women and men in a warm and relaxing atmosphere. For each of its treatments, the beauty centre uses products from renowned brands such as Guinot, Nail Station, L'Oréal and Schwarzkopf.

Finish your visit with the art gallery L'Île aux Images exhibiting works that are varied in time, history and form. From artworks of our beloved Mauritian masters, to transformed antique pieces presented as modern objects of arts, the space combines deep knowledge and expertise, creating playful sophistication.

In a nutshell, the S'Mall & Chic centre takes root in a large hangar with open spaces, all connected to each other by the same poetry, by the same bohemian and chic style. It also hosts one of the offices of BARNES Mauritius.

To enjoy the privileges of a life in Central Mauritius, we recommend this contemporary penthouse immersed in the heart of Floréal. This 4-bedroom and 3-bathroom apartment offers a stunning view over the ocean and the mountains from a distance.

BARNES Mauritius - So Mauritius... So Barnes.
