Mauritius is a destination often qualified as a 'paradise on earth' by expatriates, tourists and locals as well. The warm tropical climate, the incomparable quality of life, the long sandy beaches and the endless turquoise lagoons make it a unique and highly prized destination for many investors.

Last year, the Mauritian authorities have taken the decision to close the borders, at first totally and then partially. Each person wishing to enter the territory being required to experience a fourteen-day strict hotel stay. This sanitary protocol has allowed the Mauritian authorities to control the impact and evolution of the epidemic on the territory.

After a long wait of several months, the BARNES Mauritius team is very happy to announce that the borders will reopen on the 1st of October, 2021. The policy led by the Mauritian government allows the country to open its borders to vaccinated people in complete safety. With the austral summer coming, isn't it the perfect opportunity to come and live in Mauritius for a while? To discover the Mauritian way of life, its peaceful multiculturalism, its paradisiacal environment, its golf courses and its multiple nautical activities? Not to mention others essential advantages for your comfort: accredited private clinics, shopping centers and international schools. This dream is now possible thanks to the reopening of the borders without quarantine put in place as from the 1st of October, 2021.

Many opportunities are now available in Mauritius with new regulations concerning foreign investors. These make it much easier for people wishing to settle in Mauritius to acquire a property and obtain a Permanent Resident Permit.

  • The Permanent Resident Permit will now be granted for any purchase of property with a minimum value of $375,000, under all the accessible to non-Mauritian schemes
  • Possibility to change the visa category without leaving the territory
  • The Permanent Resident Permit is extended from 10 years to 20 years
  • The Occupation Permit is extended from 3 years to 10 years

And still a soft tax with :
